An Overview of Our Design Process

We have a step-by-step process that we go through with each of our clients in order to keep both of us on task and informed, so that projects can be completed as efficiently as possible, and so that we can help to create the best design possible for your website.

Step 1: Fill out the website questionnaire and setup a brief phone meeting

I want to get an understanding of your business so that I can make your website reflect your business goals and mission as best as possible. Together, we will decide which pages and site functionality you need. I can address any questions you may have, we can decide on the best plan of action for your site.

Step 2: Contract & Payment

After deciding that we will work together, you will sign a contract online, and pay a deposit based on a payment plan that we work out that will secure your spot on the development schedule. Final payment will be due upon completion of the project.

Step 3: Submission of Materials & Website Development:

This is where the magic happens. You will submit your copy (text), any images, and any logos or branding information to me. I will then design a draft of your website for you to approve. Once I have your approval, I will begin designing the website on my server, and upon completion, we will send you the final invoice.

Step 4: Learn How to Update your Website

Once the website has been completed, you will receive documentation on how to update your website. We can also schedule a training session via Zoom or Skype. The training session should take about 30 minutes.

Step 5: Secure Hosting & Domain Name

We can provide hosting and secure a domain name for you if desire. The cost for hosting is $7.50/month or $65/year for most websites. The cost for domain registrations is $15/year, and may be higher you have a "special/vanity" domain extension. You can also choose to get your hosting and domain elsewhere, and we will be happy to help you with that purchase if needed.

Step 6: Final Payment and Transfer of Project:

Once the final payment is made, I will transfer everything to your server. After the transfer is complete, I’ll make sure that everything is functional, and you are all set!

Optional: Ongoing Website Maintenance

RJSmith Creative will provide minor updates to your site for 14 days after the project is completed. This includes any small text edits and tweaks. This does not include new graphic design elements or adding new functionality or pages to the site.
